As far back as ancient Egypt, cold therapy was used to treat pain. In folk medicine, it was also often used to treat local inflammations. Cold significantly reduces the perception of pain, has an anti-inflammatory and anti-edematous effect. It also relieves muscle tension and improves blood circulation in the inflamed part of the body. Together with the compressive effect of the bandage, these beneficial effects are significantly multiplied.
The newly developed compression bandages VETOFLEX® Classic Ice not only significantly help to maintain the correct flow of lymph and therefore prevent its stagnation in the distal part of the horse's limbs, but with a significant cooling effect they reduce the activity of inflammatory processes and bring relief from pain.
It is known from veterinary practice that the beneficial effect of cold in horses is manifested on the internal tissues only after approx. 20 minutes of cooling with a stream of water. The inner part of the Classic Ice bandage is made of a highly elastic and breathable material that was specially developed for human medicine. At the same time, this material protects the skin from burning from the cold.
As well as for Classic bandages, we offer 4 lengths depending on the height of the horse: STANDARD, SHORT, LONG, PONY.
How tomeasure
Use tape measure to determine the circumference of the fetlock joint at its widest point, ideally when the swelling has subsided as much as possible. Then measure the distance on the front of the leg as indicated in the picture.
